I decided to make a new, private, web design notebook, one where I could make a quick mockup and work out an idea. Not complete sites, but just to see where color, style, and feeling could get me.</p> <p>It’s liberating to throw away content management systems, templates, auto-generated pages, and pre-defined code and just focus on an idea. Too often these things start out with all this crap thrown into it – auto-generated from WordPress or Tumblr, or whatever, and I work <em>for it</em> instead of it working <em>for me</em>.
